Ince's Cafe on Wastdale Road feels like a well-established spot where locals start their day or settle in for a hearty midday break. This is the kind of cafe where you can drop by for a proper breakfast—think generous bacon and egg sandwiches served on fresh bloomer bread or a buttery croissant that pairs well with a strong, straightforward coffee. The menu stretches beyond the usual cafe fare, with options like fried slices and classic breakfast extras that reinforce its comfort food roots.

The atmosphere leans toward no-nonsense familiarity rather than trendy coffee culture. Regulars often chat with staff who clearly know their names, which adds a grounded, neighbourhood vibe. It’s the sort of place where there’s a sense of continuity—meals prepared with attention and a menu that doesn’t try to be flashy but delivers on homely, satisfying flavors.

Ideal times to visit are morning or lunchtime, when the cafe hums with the quiet energy of people looking for a reliably good meal without pretense. Whether you’re after a wrap of chicken with chips, a homemade salad, or something to fill you up after a busy morning, Ince’s offers variety without complication. The addition of Mediterranean specials suggests there are thoughtful daily changes that keep the menu interesting for regulars.

Overall, it’s a practical choice for anyone in SE23 who values friendly service, consistently cooked food, and a straightforward setting. It works well as a spot for locals to grab breakfast on their way to work, meet friends over coffee, or enjoy a no-fuss lunch. Prices align with the unpretentious approach, making it accessible to a wide range of visitors from the area.

This is a real hidden gem in the rough. The food is just like what grandma would make you. Hot and a warm feeling everything is cooked to perfection.

This place has to be the BEST cafe around by far the food is a 10/10. The staff are very nice and friendly and the chicken curry is out of this world !!! Would recommend anyone to try out this cafe as i can honestly say I have never been to a better cafe then here, the price of food is also spot on !

As far as Cafe's go food and hygiene are paramount and i can say with confidence that both are tip top! Great menu (check out the home cooked mediteranean specials) And the traditionals cafe faves are always fresh and tasty Great staff, great hygiene, great food 10/10 easily!

Just a normal cafe. But a really good one. Fewer of them around these days. The staff are welcoming, the food is good and well cooked to order; they know loads of the customers so it is clearly well respected in the community, and that speaks volumes. Reasonable prices too!

Absolute Gem. Reasonably priced good food. My bacon and egg sarnie was jampacked between a beautifully fresh bloomer loaf and my coffee was full of flavour, just how I like it.
